ALERT

** VERY IMPORTANT **

All Core Directors and Core Technicians.

At this time – the fund for the CCC discount is not correct and iLab needs to make some system updates.

We will keep you informed when this is ready.  IF you do your billing before these are done, you will need to make adjustments/transfers in WorkDay after the billing process.

Business Administrators and Principal Investigators – please help us by checking all the Billing Chartfields within your respective labs to ensure all the appropriate people have access to the appropriate COA. Thanks for your time and attention as we continue to work through the interface with Workday.

If you have any questions about anything iLab related, please join us every non-holiday Wednesday, from 9:00 to 10:00 am EST in Teams at the following link:

Preclinical Ultrasound and Photoacoustic Imaging Core

Overview of Services

The Preclinical Ultrasound and Photoacoustic Imaging Core was established in July 2014 at Wake Forest School of Medicine as a research source for NIH-, foundation-, and industry-funded as well as early stage investigators at WFSM to study preclinical rodent models of human disease. It contains a new technology platform, Vevo F2 LAZR-X Photoacoustic imaging system, which offers high frequency ultrasound modalities of the extensively validated technology of the Vevo F2 and expands with a sophisticated laser and fiberoptic component enabling the inherent and real-time co-registration of photoacoustic and anatomical images in both 2D and 3D planes. This advanced imaging platform empowers investigators to obtain non-invasive and longitudinal anatomical, functional, physiological, and molecular data in relevant preclinical rodent models.

The instrument is housed on the 1st floor of BioTech Place Building in Hypertension and Vascular Research.

Areas of research that may benefit from Core services include but are not limited to:

  • diabetes
  • systemic and pulmonary hypertension
  • heart disease
  • peripheral artery disease
  • preeclampsia and intrauterine growth restriction
  • sepsis
  • aging
  • cancer
